Sean Doering, President of AquaTerra Biomes

Hello everyone! My name is Sean. I am a 29 year old American citizen living in Wisconsin. I have a lovely wife named Kim, two cats, Gidget and Walnut, have a career as a scientist, and am currently working on my masters degree in biotechnology. I absolutely love nature and always have from a very young age. My father has a degree in forestry, and I grew up camping and learning about the different birds, trees, and plants that we would encounter. Soon enough, I not only learned the names of the plants and animals, but I began to learn about their different uses, and how they all connected together. Then I learned how we as humans connected to them. I began to watch as many nature documentaries as I could, and still today those are some of my favorite shows. Plants, animals, reptiles, fish, crustaceans,  gastropods, fungi… I grew to love them all! Everywhere I travelled, I began to look for new species I hadn’t yet seen. I became very familiar with the biodiversity of the United States Midwest, so when I first travelled down to Central America, the sheer difference and amount of biodiversity astounded me! Not only was the environment completely different, but also the culture and way of life of the people who live there.

Growing up in during the expanse of the internet and social media, the world didn’t seem so large. But after travelling to different areas, I began to see how wonderfully unique and diverse it truly was. Every region of the world has its own unique treasure trove of natural life. Understanding nature and how it all works was a major factor that inspired me to continue my education in science. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science with a focus in Biotechnology. My college education taught me another important insight to nature, and that was the unfound discoveries hidden within genetic diversity. Not only is nature important on a macroscopic scale, but it is also crucial on a microscopic scale! Most of our medicines are isolated or designed from compounds found in nature. Not only does our world depend on the connected web of biodiversity, but our quality of life depends on it.

Biodiversity is slowly declining in our world. New discoveries and the beauty of nature is being replaced by habitat destruction all over the planet. In some cases, driving entire species to extinction. Today, we have the ability to come together and help prevent some of this destruction. We can preserve pockets of biodiversity all across the globe. By saving the habitat of endangered and threatened species, we can ensure important bio and genetic diversity can survive for future study and enjoyment by all of humanity. Together, we can make a difference.

Turner Ruechel, Secretary of AquaTerra Biomes

Hello! My name is Turner Ruechel, and I am the Secretary of Aqua Terra Biomes. I am a 28 year old American citizen. Currently engaged to my fiancé, Kayla, we are set to be married late summer of 2024. We have two crazy dogs and an attitude filled cat. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with an environmental concentration. After college, I went on to work in the Biotech industry for 5 years where I met the now President of ATB, Sean. I currently work as a Molecular Biology Product Development Scientist. In my free time I am always working on spending as much time outdoors as possible, especially while playing sports such as rugby, volleyball, tennis and pickleball.

Growing up in Wisconsin, one of the main activities to do is enjoy the many beautiful state parks. My family and I would make several trips a year to go out and camp in new places. Through those trips, I learned to love all that nature had to offer and would always try to completely surround myself with it. That love is what propelled me to follow Sean’s vision of environmental preservation and join ATB. Leaving a lasting mark on the world, by not leaving a mark at all, is a goal that I try to live by every day. AquaTerra Biomes can take that goal and project it to a global scale, preserving land that I never dreamed of. I can’t wait to see the impact that ATB can have on the world, and I am very excited to be a part of it.
